The Founder

Hakimi Hj. Harun

Founder & Group CEO, Micropay Berhad​

Hakimi Harun graduated in Business Studies from the University of Wales, UK in 1998. A visionary leader known for strategic execution, team motivation, and operational efficiency, he has a strong background in managing high-impact projects and building performance-driven cultures.

He began his journey asDirector & CEO of Micropay Berhad in 2012, where hepioneered Malaysia’s first Open Payment System in transportation usingVISA and Mastercard, under national initiatives likeEPP4 and NKEA. Under his leadership, Micropay scaled its product roadmap, secured key partnerships, and aligned innovation with national transport goals.

Hakimi also serves asCEO of Divercity Development Sdn Bhd, leading thePutrajaya Haven Project — a visionary international township built in collaboration with the Malaysian government. He has held CEO and advisory roles across UiHire Berhad, MOFAZ Group, and Smart Parking Management Systems Sdn Bhd (acquired by Johor Corporation), each time spearheading growth, strategic realignment, and profitable transformation.

His early career includes involvement withMEPS, where he helped developMEPS CASH Transport, and contributed to national parking development underMRCB. With over18 years of experience across the mobility, fintech, and infrastructure space, Hakimi has successfully negotiated strategic partnerships in countries including Austria, Germany, the UK, US, Switzerland, Indonesia, and more.

Micropay was born out of the belief that Malaysia deserves a world-class mobility payment system — one that is smart, open, and ready for the future. We don’t just build systems; we build trust, reliability, and seamless experiences for the everyday commuter.

2013
Micropay Gateway Sdn Bhd is founded with a vision to transform the transportation payment ecosystem in Malaysia.
2014
Awarded the exclusive rights by VISA and Mastercard to implement the first debit/credit card payment system in Malaysian toll collection — a landmark achievement in the country’s financial and mobility infrastructure.
2016
Micropay expands its platform capabilities and conducts feasibility studies, system integrations, and proof-of-concept pilots across various toll plazas in preparation for future national rollouts.
2020
Divercity Development Sdn Bhd is established to expand into township development. Flagship project: Putrajaya Haven, a mixed-use urban township covering Precincts 1 to 6, focused on lifestyle, culture, and sustainability.
2022
Launch of EzGIG Solution, which evolves into EzGIG Sdn Bhd, the Group’s own software powerhouse to support internal systems and offer enterprise-level tech services across public and private sectors.
2023
Micropay Gateway Sdn Bhd transitions to Micropay Berhad, becoming a public unlisted company as part of its structural expansion and long-term strategic positioning.
2024
Becomes the first OPS (Open Payment System) provider live in LATAR Highway, enabling commuters to pay tolls using contactless bank cards — an industry first in Malaysia.
